More Exploration

“Take your broken heart, make it into art.” ~Carrie Fisher

I am still on my neverending quest to create a body of abstract work. I have been exploring many avenues trying to find what feels right. Just when I think I’ve got something, I wind up hating them and painting over them. Who knew it would be such a struggle?

These latest pieces seem to be feeling good to me finally. Truth be told, inspiration came in a very unusual way. I was shaking up a bottle of high flow black acrylic paint and I didn’t realize the cap was not screwed on. Black paint flew all over my studio. The idea was born. (And an unfortunate mess.)

I love the play of bright colors getting muted with a coat of white and then a big splash of black creating a focal point. I’ve been so affected lately by the political tumult in the world and I’ve thrown myself into my work. I’ve let my whole body get into these pieces, using big motions to create the brush strokes. It feels good to get it all out.

I’d love any and all feedback. Still working through these.

I really love your work Deanne it is soothing ,calming my nerves to look at your paintings and it is also inspirational…as you also mentioned that so many terrible things are taking place in the world and when I look at a painting , like it to be soothing – meaning in this context that it should not have too many colours or images to look at –some solace, calmness, tranquility, peace, relief to wash over me and your art work does have that affect on me…for all that thank you Deanne from Istanbul, Turkey.
