Creative Everyday ~ Photography

Years ago I read The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and so many of the recommended practices from that book have stayed with me. There’s a simple idea she recommends that she calls an Artist Date: heading out alone with the sole purpose of inspiration. Doing something you really love to do or exploring something new that you think you’d love to do.

Letting inspiration be your guide.

One of those things for me is photography. It’s rare that I have the time to head out with my camera alone and get some great shots. Doesn’t matter what the shots are of, just the idea of looking for beauty all around me is the part I really love. I went out the other day and I remembered all the reasons why this is something I need to do more often.

I took an online photography class taught by Andrea Scher called Elevate the Ordinary and I still use all of the things I learned. I highly recommend it if you want to learn how to see the ordinary things around you with new eyes.

If you’re looking for inspiration, grab your camera and head out the front door. Challenge yourself to find beauty anywhere and everywhere. It’s always there for you when you take the time to look.
