This morning I decided to go for a little “color hunt” with my daughter who is 4 years old. I thought it would be fun if she pointed out every different color she could find and I would take a photo of it. She was very excited about this idea so off we went to explore the neighborhood.
First we found green.
Then red.
Then reddish greenish.
Then yellow.
Brown.
Purple.
Then we found blue.
And orange.
And a teeny tiny bit of pink that she was very excited about.
We also found a couple of other treasures on our hunt.
We found a tree about to sprout some leaves.
And a busy little bee.
We had been wandering the neighborhood in a direction we don’t normally go when we found the greatest treasure of all.
What?! Someone had put this amazing free little library box in their yard! How had we never seen this before?! Take a book. Leave a book. Isn’t that the greatest idea you’ve ever heard of? My daughter was so excited to pick out a book.
So we sat down on the curb and read it. What a magnificent and unexpected treasure. And what a sweet morning.
On tomorrow’s agenda? Go deposit one of our old books. LOVE THIS SO MUCH. It made my day. And hers too.

I have seen those li-berries!!! love and sweetness! xo
OMG – I am so doing this in my front yard when I get back to the U.S.!!!!
Such a great post. Love the pictures. I also love the idea of the little free libraries. Thanks for the post.
I just love these images and can imagine your daughter’s excitement at all the color discoveries. Such simple pleasures can bring so much joy. Thanks for sharing your day!
Great idea for going out and actually noticing what surrounds you. Great photos, my favourite one is the sprouting tree. That little free library is adorable as well, great idea indeed.
What a beautiful post, De! We get so caught up in the fast pace of everyday life that we forget to notice and appreciate the beauty that is all around us. Thanks for reminding us!
What a great idea! Love the idea and the photos . . . and the library. We, too, have a Little Free Library in our front yard. More info here: http://www.littlefreelibrary.org/
