This week is a humdinger.
Lots of things on the horizon. Some good things and some not-so-good things. Here’s the rundown:
My hubby Greg and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary yesterday. 18 years is a long time and for those of you out there with kids, you know that after a while things in a family can get hectic. When Greg gets home from work each night, there’s dinner, baths, books, bedtime… we’re lucky if we even get a chance to have a conversation. And with his work travel and all the activities we have going on with the kids, it feels like we spend more time “making a life” sometimes than living our life. I think it’s so important to check in with each other every once in a while and just make sure we don’t lose sight of the big picture. So we’ve agreed to always remember to add fun to the schedule: family fun AND “Mommy and Daddy only” fun. It’s been an amazing 18 years!
As you all know tomorrow we will be celebrating our country’s independence. This usually involves a block party for us and lots of eating and drinking. Pretty much the same as everyone all over the country. Happy 4th y’all!
On Thursday a very dear and important person to me will be undergoing MAJOR surgery. It breaks my heart that she has to go through this and even though I know that everything will be fine, I know that she’s nervous and I want her to feel surrounded with love and support. If you’re reading this now would you just take a quick moment to send some good energy her way? Even if you don’t know who she is, I believe that there’s immense strength in the collective energy we have as loving humans. LOVE IS STRONGER THAN ANY PHYSICAL AFFLICTION. I want her to feel the light and love that she is constantly immersed in and to know that she is strong beyond belief.
I depart for Portland, Oregon on Friday. I will be attending the World Domination Summit for the second year in a row. Early last year I read Chris Guillebeau’s “The Art of Non-conformity” and I was instantly a fan of his. When I found out he was hosting an event called the “World Domination Summit” I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It’s a conference, but not really a conference, it’s more about unconventional, remarkable people coming together for some adventure. There are speakers and workshops and social activities. Last year, I met amazing people and had a wonderful time but I still have trouble putting into words exactly what was so great about it. It’s an experience. That’s all I can say. So this year, I am keeping an open mind and trying not to put overly high expectations on the weekend based on last year’s adventure. I want this experience to unfold in its own unique way. So look out Portland, here I come!
As I said, this week has its excitements as well as its challenges. I am planning on meeting all of them head on. And I just want to thank all of you for supporting me here on my blog and for reading. I’ve been officially writing it for a year and a half now and sometimes it’s difficult to put yourself out there but I have found so much support from you. Writing has become one of my favorite creative outlets.
Yes, you, my readers and friends…. TOTALLY ROCK!!
