What happens when you travel to New Mexico, get 15 women together, put art supplies in their hands and let them connect and create? Magic happens that’s what! At least it was magical for me. I had such a wonderful experience this weekend teaching my Soulidarity Art Journaling workshop in Albuquerque. It never ceases to inspire me when people come together for the purpose of self-expression.
I was invited by Ana Romero-Sanchez to lead a workshop in her beautiful backyard and the weather could not have been more perfect.
The sight of this many women with paintbrushes in their hands always gets my pulse racing. I love it!
Art journaling is about personal expression and I was so impressed with everyone’s willingness to put their heart on the page.
So many connections were made. I think that’s my favorite part.
And even though I always stress that art journaling is about the process and not about the final product, I am inevitably amazed at the beautiful artwork that is created by the end of the day.
So many people show up thinking that they are not creative and they leave with a different perspective. Art journaling allows you to take a creative leap and discover parts of yourself you may have forgotten about.
This is just a sampling of some of the amazing work that my attendees created.
They all get the same direction and prompts and yet, their individual pages could not be more personal. What a great way to spend an afternoon.
Luckily, I was also able to squeeze in some green chile consumption. Yum!
And catch some music. (My cousin Keith Sanchez is a fantastic musician!)
And I just generally soaked up the remarkable New Mexico scenery. I always leave New Mexico inspired and rejuvenated. Thank you for having me Albuquerque! I can’t wait to go back! Hopefully, I’ll be teaching another workshop there soon!
My next workshop is on November 9 at my home in San Clemente, CA. If you’d like to join us, here’s the link to sign up!
