I had the spontaneous opportunity to spend 24 hours with two of my three best friends this weekend. We’ve been friends for 20+ years but we all live in different cities and don’t get to see each other very often these days. It was a rare and special treat to spend some time together. All I can say is I feel renewed, rejuvenated and refreshed.
We talked each others’ ears off.
We talked over coffee, over lunch, over pedicures, over cocktails, over dinner, in pajamas, while we showered, while we put on makeup, while we got dressed, over coffee again…. there was A LOT OF TALKING.
And this is what I learned: if you have the kind of friends who accept you, who love you, who know your faults, who listen to your problems, who laugh with you, who cry with you, who have known you so long they know you better than you know yourself sometimes, who tell you the truth, who validate you, who think you’re awesome, who understand your insecurities, who feel your pain, who laugh uncontrollably with you when you’ve had one too many mojitos, who eat really fattening yummy things with you, who have the same ironic sense of humor, who remember things about your love life that you’ve already forgotten, who dispense words of wisdom that change your life sometimes, and who get really really excited when wonderful things happen for you….
… if you have those kinds of friends, then you have everything. I am so completely grateful.
